ae part 2

You quickly open your eyes and discover that you see…

Nothing.

Well, you see nothing for a few dozen seconds. After your vision starts to adjust to the darkness, you discover that you can now see slightly more than nothing.

You look around. You aren't sure how you got here. Last you remember, you were reading an SCP file. You had to do something finicky with your client to be able to read files outside of your clearance level. You were always worried that that wasn't the greatest of great decisions.

While you contemplate your life choices, your thoughts are quickly interrupted by a bright light appearing in front of you. After your eyes now have do a 180 and adjust for the lighting yet again, you see a portal-like entity appear in front of you. Electricity sparks between the edges of the portal.

After a few moments, a man walks out of it. He's on the older side, his unkempt beard and somewhat dirty face indicate that he hasn't had much time to take care of himself. Either that, or he just hasn't felt like it recently. You aren't entirely sure.

He raises his hand to close the portal. Several wires embedded within his arm glow a bright blue color and flow towards his outstretched hand, coalescing in a magic circle appearing in front of his hand.

"Are you a… wizard?" You ask. You can faintly recall learning about magic users, but granted, most of your memories are only able to be "faintly recalled" right now.

He chuckles. "In a sense.

"More specifically, I'm a technothaumaturge. Like a wizard, but we also use gadgets to help with the thaumaturgy."

You nod a few times. You think you understand, but thinking hurts a little. You faintly recall seeing a cognitohazard.

"Did you bring me here?"

He nods. "I did."

"And you couldn't have chosen a less intrusive way?"

He smiles. "You're cute.

"Unless you would have preferred me to knock you over the head, this was the better way to get you here. Your memory issues should clear up soon.

"Well, I suppose that won't matter if…"

You blink twice. "If what?"

"Ah, never mind. More fun this way."

You frown. You don't like him.

"Why am I here?"

He smirks. "Because." He stretches out his hand and swipes it out in front of him. As he does so, several floating displays appear. You walk towards one to read it.

BEGIN LOG

A man behind an office desk sits with his back straight, unmoving. His face is automatically covered by a censor bar, but it is evident he is looking towards the door. The nameplate on his desk labels him as a member of the O5 Council.

Someone knocks on the door.

O5-10: You may enter.

After a few seconds, the door opens. A man in a lab coat walks into the room. He subtly shakes with nervousness.

O5-10: Manferd. Always a pleasure.

Dr. Manferd: Yes, it, uh, it's always a pleasure to see you too. Yup.

Dr. Manferd clears his throat.

Dr. Manferd: So. I've looked over the plans you gave me for Site-470. I'm not entirely sure how you want us to go about constructing that. I understand our technology is… better than most construction companies out there. Even then, it doesn't seem physically possible.

O5-10: It's not.

Dr. Manferd: Oh. Okay. I see.

The two men stand and sit in silence for a few seconds.

Dr. Manferd: Is there a way to make it physically possible?

O5-10: Yes.

Dr. Manferd nods a few times.

Dr. Manferd: Great, nice. Might I ask how?

O5-10 snaps his fingers, and a humanoid entity with red skin and small horns appears next to him in a puff of smoke. Dr. Manferd is startled by this and jumps slightly.

Dr. Manferd: Oh, Jesus, okay. Hello.

O5-10: This is Tyler.

Dr. Manferd blinks twice before waving. Tyler sighs.

Tyler: My parents wanted to give me an American name.

Dr. Manferd: Ah, fair enough.

O5-10 clears his throat.

Tyler: Ah, right. So basically, in the general area where we want to build Site-470, there's a lot of deific energy just… around, for lack of a better word.

Dr. Manferd: Do we know why?

Tyler shrugs.

Tyler: Maybe it's been there for centuries, decades, millennia; we aren't entirely sure. I personally think it might've come from the death of a god. They don't tend to do so well when their followers die en masse from disease and colonial rule.

Dr. Manferd: So, what do you want me to do?

O5-10: You said that conventional methods aren't able to keep Site-470 in the sky, correct?

O5-10: We're just going to go past conventional methods.

O5-10: We're going to use a god.

You take your eyes off of the transcript and turn to face the technothaumaturge. He's looking back at you in turn with an eyebrow raised.

"Is the god that the babies pray to this god?" you ask.

He makes a sound somewhere between surprise and approval. "You catch on quick, don't you? And here I thought I'd have to show you half a dozen other addenda. All that time I spent, wasted. A true shame indeed."

You frown. "Why wouldn't they want people knowing that a god keeps the site in the air? It's public knowledge that 118's was built in the remains of a giant anomaly. This doesn't sound too different."

He smiles again. You're starting to dislike his smile. And him in general. "Impatient, aren't we? The information will come to you in due time."

The darkness surrounding both of you starts to take on a very subtle blue hue. The man holding you captive notices this and frowns, turning around.

"Although it wouldn't hurt to speed it up just a smidge." He doesn't take his eyes off one point in the distance.

You look to the right of him and notice a cube. That cube wasn't there before, at least, you're fairly certain it wasn't. He doesn't seem to notice.

A few moments later, he snaps his fingers, causing another floating display to appear.

BEGIN LOG

The footage opens into an underground bunker. The room is brightly lit, and a large number of personnel are moving throughout it. In the center of the room sits a large, circular, metal apparatus. Several technicians are working on various parts of the machine.

Dr. Manferd is talking to an engineer while holding some blueprints. He looks confused.

By the entrance to the room, Tyler calls his name and waves him over. Dr. Manferd says goodbye to the engineer and walks over. The two of them walk into the hallway.

Tyler: Is it ready?

Dr. Manferd: Just about. We're putting the finishing touches on it.

Tyler: "We're" is a strong word; you're essentially just there to supervise. You're like a retail manager.

Dr. Manferd: I've never been more insulted in my life.

Dr. Manferd: What about you, you ready on your end?

Tyler nods.

Engineer (yelling): Manferd! We're done!

Dr. Manferd (yelling): Okay!

Dr. Manferd: You wanna go do it, then?

Tyler nods.

Tyler and Dr. Manferd walk to a nearby door. The two unlock it and walk inside.

Tyler begins drawing a summoning circle on the floor while Dr. Manferd places candles and several sacrificial items.

After finishing the circle, Tyler sits cross-legged in the center of the circle and begins chanting.

As he chants, the objects within the circle begin to glow blue and float slightly above the ground.

Tyler: O great spirits of the beyond, we ask of you to combine into one.

A blue light appears, hovering in the middle of the summoning circle. A cloud of particles orbits it.

Tyler: You shall embody the Winds and the Sky. You shall embody the Ground and the Earth.

Part of the orbiting particles begin moving closer to one another, forming what resembles a torso and left leg.

Tyler: You shall embody Those Who Wish To Fly. You shall embody Aerial Safety.

More of the orbiting material coalesces into a right leg.

Tyler: You shall embody All That There Has Been.

A left arm forms.

Tyler: You shall embody All That There Is.

A right arm forms.

Tyler: You shall embody All That There Will Be.

The head forms. The completed body hovers motionlessly.

Dr. Manferd: So… did it work?

//A flash of an extremely bright blue light momentarily stuns the two individuals, and the constructed body comes to life as a deific entity, hereafter referred to as SCP-LXXX-α.

SCP-LXXX-α: WHO DARES DISTURB MY SLUMBER?

Tyler: Oh no.

Dr. Manferd: What do you mean "oh no"!?!

Tyler: I mean we definitely bit off more than we can chew.

SCP-LXXX-α sniffs the air for a moment before turning its gaze towards Tyler, its eyebrows furrowing as it focuses its vision

SCP-LXXX-α: ARE YOU THE ONE WHO SUMMONED ME? WHAT IS IT THAT YOU DESIRE?

As SCP-LXXX-α speaks, many small objects around the deific entity begin rapidly changing colors.

Tyler: Uhm.

Tyler: We need you to get into a cage? Pretty please?

A pregnant pause envelops the room. Dr. Manferd slowly turns to look at Tyler in disbelief.

SCP-LXXX-α: HOW DARE YOU.

SCP-LXXX-α raises his arms and throws a punch at Tyler, who raises his own arms in turn with a magic shield. Dr. Manferd dodges and runs to flank SCP-LXXX-α.

Dr. Manferd: Did you not have a plan?!

Tyler: My plan got thrown out the window once I saw he was three times as big as I was expecting!

Dr. Manferd: Yeah, you said he was gonna embody "All That There Is", so that checks out!

Tyler: You gonna help, or just stand there and complain?

Dr. Manferd picks up several of the sacrificial objects and throws them at SCP-LXXX-α.

Tyler: Do you not have magic or something?

Dr. Manferd: No, I don't have magic! I didn't go to Deer or anything, I got a biology degree at a community college!

Tyler: Biolo—, why were you overseeing construction if you're a biology major???

Dr. Manferd: I'm adaptable!

Tyler dispels the shield before quickly casting a spell and throwing his arms toward SCP-LXXX-α. Moments later, many small explosions occur around SCP-LXXX-α.

Tyler: Alright, I got a plan B. You might not like it, though.

Tyler quickly runs around SCP-LXXX-α, creating a protective barrier between himself and the entity. Once the entity is sealed within, Tyler begins preparing another spell.

Tyler: You are getting in that machine. Whether you like it or not.

SCP-LXXX-α begins glowing a bright blue color while staring intently at Tyler. The protective barrier begins to crack.

Dr. Manferd: Tyler!

Tyler: I know! Just give me a second!

Tyler finishes his spell and SCP-LXXX-α is teleported away. However, moments after the protective shield fails, allowing the built up energy created by SCP-LXXX-α to leave, creating a bright flash of blue light.

After it dissipates, Tyler is gone. Dr. Manferd runs out of the room.

END LOG

okay I got work at 8 am tomorrow morning. the hub says I can submit something unfinished as long as I finish it later

in the event that I don't, here is an outline of the few remaining story beats:

manferd comes down to where the technothaumaturge and mc are
manferd and technothaumaturge argue a bit
manferd's like "you aren't supposed to be here" all sadly and stuff
technothaumaturge plays one more video
waow manferd goes to confront the big machine that holds the god and it gets Mad™ and hits it with its power, giving manferd his unwilling dimension hopping powers
tyler also teleports back into baseline and surprise surprise while he was in a different universe he turned into the technothaumaturge
manferd sadly has to take the mc away, your fate is unknown but it's implied you either get administered amnestics or sacrificed to the god

update as of the 24th, I added more to it but I got even busier. working retail during christmas week does that to a guy. I sincerely apologize, I hope its current length and contents is enough for you. I plan on coming back to finish this soon, as I think it will serve as a nice basis for both my author avatar and a series I'm gonna write. If you are disappointed, I'm very sorry. I could have gotten this pinch hit but I wanted to try my best to write something with my limited time.
