<Begin Log>

Dr. Prescott and an unknown individual are sitting in an interrogation room, with four armed guards stationed outside. The man looks up at the doctor, and gives a wide grin.

Unknown: I bet you’re not the kind of guy to break my fingers, eh?

Prescott: You claim to be the former Administrator of the SCP Foundation.

Unknown: That’s correct.

Prescott: The Administrator has been presumed dead since 1956.

Unknown: That is also true.

Prescott: So who are you?

The man reaches out from under the table, and pulls out a folder of documents that was not there previously. He places the folder on the table and pushes it closer to Dr. Prescott, who proceeds to examine it.

Unknown: Well, I’m nobody important, really, at least not anymore, but I do have this for you.

Prescott: Wait a second. Is this actually—

Unknown: The 001? You’re looking right at it. I had to borrow some archived documents from one of your Deepwells, but it’s got all my notes attached and everything.

Prescott: How can I know if this is the real thing and not a fabrication?

Unknown: We can find that out together. Shall we?

Dr. Prescott looks at the guards, then looks back at the man.

Prescott: I guess I have time.

Unknown: Good. ‘Cause you’re going to need all the time that you can get. And we’re running out of it fast.

Item #: SCP-001

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: It is of utmost importance that SCP-001 is never to be activated.

Description: Object is a complex mass of machinery, recovered from the island of Crete, Greece. It is covered in runes of unknown origin, and is composed of a mixture of bronze, iron, and two undiscovered alloys. Attached to the front of this machinery is a device similar in purpose to a telegraph, anachronistic to the time period that it was built in. Transmitting a message through the telegraph results in communication with an unknown intelligence, designated SCP-001-A.

SCP-001-A is purported to create predictions of a probabilistic type, and it claims to have knowledge of the greater universe and potential futures for the human race. Any queries of personal information about a particular individual’s future will be provided an answer by SCP-001-A after approximately ten minutes, with the runes around the object beginning to glow a bright crimson. Once this process is complete, a sheet of paper will be delivered from a crevice on the left side of the object, detailing step-by-step instructions for how the individual in question should proceed to actualize their intended future. It is currently unknown how the entity is able to obtain such information, as it has been shown that some information was not told to any other living person, and in a few cases were not known to the subjects themselves.
