A housing allotment has been provided to PoI-XXXX, alongside a permanent caregiver. Visitation with SCP-XXXX may be requested once per week.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a red rose herbarium1 sealed within a simple wooden frame. The rose specimen exhibits a movement response to light-based stimuli similar to that of living flowers, though dramatically accelerated. An additional preservative effect has been hypothesized, but remains untested due to neutralization risk.
SCP-XXXX was discovered in 2018 during an enscheatment evaluation of the late Simon Hughes's estate, which, in remaining unclaimed for 5 years following his death, had defaulted to the state. During an extended investigation into the property, an assigned official identified SCP-XXXX within the home's living room. Attempts to report the object to higher-ups were intercepted, and the case was dropped. Later use of a false inheritor secured foundation control of the estate.
Though the majority of the Hughes estate was deemed unrelated to SCP-XXXX, the following contents of the garden shed were also recovered:
- A wide collection of general work tools and gardening equipment;
- Materials for the mounting and framing of herbarium;
- Numerous wilted, dried, and emaciated red rose specimens;
- An excess supply of red rose seeds;
- An operating chair;
- A leucotome and orbitoclast;
- PoI-XXXX.2
PoI-XXXX is Rosaline Hughes. Hughes's appearance remains mostly identical to photos taken of her in the mid 1950s,3 with the exception of a wilted rose bush, having grown from the base of her skull. Comprehensive scans show that the root structure emanating from this pervade her entire body, with the majority of the mass concentrated in her cerebral cortex. While believed to be the source of her aesthetic longevity, root interference has been found to restrict Hughes's movement and impair cortex function, leaving her generally apathetic and inert.
Attempts to rouse PoI-XXXX with novel stimuli have yet to see success. Instead, PoI-XXXX will mirror SCP-XXXX's movements with her head.4
