Every hunter of the Aberdeen Pact knows of the Venandi Collectio, a compendium of beasts worthy for the Hunt.
From time to time, either for curiosity's sake or simply to find the next creature to hunt to satiate their Thirst, hunters will flip through the pages of the Collectio, potentially coming across a page just like this one.
The Darwin's Dragon was seen as a very prestigious hunt. Hunters of the Aberdeen Pack would travel from throughout the world to the Galapagos to slay the Aetern.
Until one day, that wasn't an option anymore.
Throughout the 2010s, an infection, sparked by an attempt to grant humans biological immortality, spread through the Tree of Life, killing off every member of the kingdom Aeternae.
The fabled Dragon and its genetic relatives no longer existed.
Until one day, they returned.
On March 20th, 2023, the Esterburgian Supreme Summer Court ruled that Aeterns should yet again exist in baseline reality. In areas where no human had seen since their extinction, small populations of the no-longer extinct kingdom had returned.
However, even forty years later, the Darwin's Dragon was still lost to the jaws of time.
After some searching, one member of the Aberdeen Pack discovered populations still existed in a nearby parallel universe, and he set off on a journey to defeat the beast.
Will he succeed in his quest, or will he drown in his own Thirst?
