An attraction affected by SCP-XXXX.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: All known SCP-XXXX-A instances are to be removed from their location and transported to a specialized containment wing in Site-470. Guards are to be stationed outside the exits of all SCP-XXXX-A instances.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a phenomenon affecting several carnival attractions worldwide. SCP-XXXX-1 is a phenomenon that occurs in approximately 1 in every 10,000 persons, hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-β, who enter an SCP-XXXX-affected carnival attraction, hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-A. SCP-XXXX-1 causes SCP-XXXX-β instances to be instantly teleported to the exit of another carnival attraction elsewhere in the world.

It is currently unknown how persons become an SCP-XXXX-β instance; the current consensus is that a person is randomly chosen after a random interval while inside an SCP-XXXX-A instance.

Addendum 1:

The following is a transcript of the first recorded instance of an SCP-XXXX-1 event.

[BEGIN LOG]

The footage opens to Dr. Maslov T. Manferd standing in line for the Gravitron ride at the St. Charles Carnival. He looks excitedly at the ride before he glances out to the rest of the carnival and spots a small group walking together and laughing. His smile drops, and he sighs.

The ride slows to a stop, and its current riders exit the ride. Dr. Manferd's smile returns as he hands some tickets to the attendant before entering the ride.

The ride begins rotating. During its operation, Dr. Manferd occasionally begins laughing.

The ride begins slowing, and once it has stopped, Dr. Manferd moves towards the exit. However, upon stepping out of the ride, he is transported to another carnival.

Dr. Manferd: Uhh…

Dr. Manferd looks around. He spots a mural of thirteen individuals being desecrated by a cheering crowd.

Dr. Manferd: Oh, I'm in Hong Shing. I see. Uh, how did I… get here?

Dr. Manferd begins looking around again. He spots a humanoid figure looking at him from a nearby window, arms crossed. Dr. Manferd's line of sight of the individual is blocked by a passing vehicle and, once it has passed, the figure is no longer there.

Dr. Manferd: …Huh.

[END LOG]

Upon his return to Site-470, Dr. Manferd reported the incident, which was logged as an Extranormal Event. Once a second SCP-XXXX-1 event occurred, it was logged as SCP-XXXX.

Addendum 2:

The following is a list of all known SCP-XXXX-1 events.

SCP-XXXX-β instance: Dr. Maslov T. Manferd
SCP-XXXX-A instance: Zipper
Result: The SCP-XXXX-β instance was teleported to a carnival in the Republic of Under-Frogia, whose inhabitants screamed in terror and fled after he said "Bonjour."

SCP-XXXX-β instance: Dr. Maslov T. Manferd
SCP-XXXX-A instance: Teacups
Result: The SCP-XXXX-β instance was teleported to a carnival in Esterberg. He spots a Fae fighting with a machine that dispenses snacks.

SCP-XXXX-β instance: Dr. Maslov T. Manferd
SCP-XXXX-A instance: Mirror maze
Result: The SCP-XXXX-β instance was teleported to a carnival in WonderWorld™. He emerged next to a group of people with rainbow skin, stating, "This is just like home, really".

Addendum 3:

The following is a discussion Dr. Maslov T. Manferd had with several Site-470 personnel after his return from an SCP-XXXX-1 event.

[BEGIN LOG]

Dr. Manferd storms into one of the Site-470 break rooms and stomps over to one of the chairs, startling Dr. Timothy Callinan.

Dr. Callinan: Woah, you're looking—

Dr. Manferd: WET? Yes, thank you, I hate it.

Dr. Callinan: Well, what happened?

Dr. Manferd: XXXX sent me to a nexus that's covered in perpetual rainfall. I was rained on for hours while I tried to find my way out of the city. I can find my way home from Hong Shing or Under-Frogia, but not from Rainville, Bumfuck Nowhere!

Dr. Manferd attempts to dry himself off with paper towels before giving up after approximately 27 seconds. He then walks over to the couch and sits down, causing Dr. Lea Palacios to stand up from the couch.

Dr. Manferd: Y'know, is this even happening to anyone else? Far as I can tell, it's just been me that's been thrown throughout the world.

Dr. Palacios: Oh yeah, there was another guy a while back. An Under-Frogian got sent to Berinsk.

Dr. Manferd: Well, at least it's not just happening to me.

Dr. Manferd sits in silence for a few moments.

Dr. Manferd: Have we figured out what causes someone to become a beta instance, yet?

Dr. Callinan: (shrugs) Uhh, I don't think so? All we know is that every now and again, someone gets picked and is sent across the world.

Dr. Manferd: (scoffs) Oh, so what, if I just—

Dr. Manferd looks up and gasps, before jumping off the couch and running out of the break room.

Dr. Manferd: I'll be right back!

After a few minutes, Dr. Manferd returns to the break room holding several folders. He places them down on the table and removes their contents.

Dr. Manferd: Turns out the Foundation's complete disregard for my privacy worked out in the end.

Dr. Manferd: Right, so in at least four SCP-XXXX-1 events, there was someone watching me once I was teleported. When I went to the Hong Shing, there was a Hommechien—they're dog people from the Right Phase, mainly live in the Jersahshor province of Melica. Anyway, when I went to Under-Frogia, there was an Under-Frogian. Esterberg, a Fae. Wonder-World™, a person from there—I'm not actually sure what the denonym is actually, anyone here know? Whatever, I'll look it up later.

Dr. Manferd: Regardless, every time there was someone in the distance watching me with their arms crossed that disappeared when line of sight was lost. I think they might have something to do with this.

Dr. Palacios: So what's the plan?

Dr. Manferd: Well, seems like SCP-XXXX-1 events take every nth person.

Dr. Manferd: So, I'll stress test the SCP-XXXX-A instances.

[END LOG]

Addendum 4:

The following is body cam footage of Dr. Manferd's attempt to force an SCP-XXXX-1 event.

[BEGIN LOG]

Dr. Manferd is standing in front of an SCP-XXXX-1 instance within Site-470. He is doing some stretches. Dr. Callinan and Dr. Palacios are standing in an observation booth.

Dr. Callinan: Maslov, you ready?

Dr. Manferd: Yup! Just jump in and out of the mirror maze. How hard could it be?

Dr. Manferd: Make sure you count the jumps. For like, science and stuff, y'know?

Dr. Callinan: Alright, Maslov, start in 3… 2… 1… go!

Dr. Manferd repeatedly enters and exits the SCP-XXXX-1 instance.

Dr. Callinan: Alright, we're at 10 jumps now. 15. 20. 25.

Dr. Palcious: We might be here a while.

[EXTRANEOUS DISCUSSION OMITTED FOR BREVITY]

Dr. Manferd is panting and takes a moment to catch his breath between each jump.

Dr. Manferd: Guys… How many are we at?

Dr. Callinan: Uh, 9,995.

Dr. Manferd: Oh Jesus Christ, okay. Do we know if this is even gonna work?

Dr. Callinan: This was your idea.

Dr. Manferd: I'm still your Site Director, y'know? I can always—

Dr. Manferd steps into the SCP-XXXX-A instance and steps out mid-sentence, and is teleported to another location.

Dr. Manferd: —demote… you… Oh. Huh.

Dr. Manferd examines his surroundings. He appears to be within an extensive cave system. He takes a moment to watch water dripping from a stalactite when he is startled by a large rodent approaching him, an Abyssal Rodent.

Abyssal Rodent: Hello, my name is Patrick.

Dr. Manferd raises his hand to wave at Patrick.

Dr. Manferd: Hello.

Patrick: I'm sure you want to know why you're here.

Dr. Manferd: Oh my god, the rat people are behind this?? Man, I did not expect that.

Dr. Manferd takes a small notepad out of his pocket.

Dr. Manferd: Thought for sure it was gonna be the Under-Frogians. I was hoping they would do something interesting.

Dr. Manferd begins muttering to himself. Patrick waits for a moment before waving at Dr. Manferd.

Patrick: Uh, hello?

Dr. Manferd looks up from his notepad before looking at Patrick.

Dr. Manferd: Right, right, I apologize. Carry on.

Patrick: Transportation is hard for our people. We're able to traverse through the caves to travel from one state to another, but the journey is trecharous. That's not even taking into account the journey to the surface.

Patrick: Especially considering the recent turmoil caused by Ratatoskr, the Rat King, we needed a way out to use if things got desperate. We experimented with magic, and managed to turn carnival rides into a transportation method. We just didn't expect that it would effect you as well.

Dr. Manferd listens to Patrick speak before turning away to look at a wall for a few moments.

Patrick: Is everything okay?

Dr. Manferd: No.

Dr. Manferd: I lost a bet.
